According to the 2025 internal migration statistics announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Samsun was among the provinces that received net migration in interprovincial migration movements.
While the population of Samsun was recorded as 1 million 392 thousand 403 people at the end of 2025, 43 thousand 566 people moved to the city during the year. In the same period, 37 thousand 793 people migrated from Samsun to other provinces. In line with these data, Samsun's net migration was 5 thousand 773 people, while the net migration rate was 4.2 per thousand.
In Turkey, a total of 2 million 475 thousand 19 people migrated between provinces in 2025. The announced data revealed that the immigration received by Samsun was more than the immigration it gave out, and showed that the city displayed a positive picture in terms of migration balance. -SAMSUN
