A 5-storey building that was at risk during the excavation activities of a construction in Samsun's Atakum district was evacuated as a precaution.
Cracks and partial collapse occurred in the walls of the 5-storey apartment building adjacent to a construction excavation on 5072nd Street in Körfez District.
Upon notice, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD), police, fire brigade and natural gas teams were dispatched to the region.
While the teams took security measures in the surrounding area, the residents of the building were evacuated as a precaution.
Two families in need of shelter were placed in the AFAD guesthouse, and one family was taken to their relatives.
During the examination, it was determined that there were cracks in the pavements around the building and that there was a gap of approximately 5 centimeters between the retaining wall and the building.
Atakum Municipality Disaster Affairs Branch Directorate teams also carried out activities in the region.
