A new application that is vital against sudden cardiac arrest has been implemented in Şanlıurfa. Domestic and national Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) devices, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and ASELSAN, were placed in public areas that citizens can directly access for the first time in Şanlıurfa.
AED devices within the scope of the activity carried out under the coordination of Şanlıurfa Provincial Health Directorate; It was located around Balıklıgöl Plateau, Eyyübiye Patience Authority, Rabia Square and Oral and Dental Health Hospital on 35 Meter Road. With the devices placed at these points where there is intense human mobility, it is aimed to provide early intervention and increase survival rates in the critical period until medical teams reach the scene in case of sudden cardiac arrest.
AED devices can automatically analyze heart rhythm and apply electroshock if necessary. Thanks to the audio and visual guidance system, the devices can be used safely by citizens who are not healthcare personnel, and help to provide the correct intervention by guiding the user step by step.
Making evaluations on the subject, Şanlıurfa Provincial Health Director Assoc. Dr. Erhan Berk pointed out that the first minutes of sudden cardiac arrest are of vital importance and said, "The correct intervention in the first minutes of sudden cardiac arrest significantly increases the patient's chance of survival. Providing local and national AED devices, developed under the leadership of our Ministry of Health and in cooperation with ASELSAN, to the service of our citizens in our city is an important gain in terms of emergency health services. Thanks to these devices placed at points with intense human circulation, our 112 Emergency Health teams can provide life-saving interventions in the critical period until they reach the scene." "Our aim is to strengthen the emergency response capacity in our city and to make our citizens' access to health services more effective," he said.
Zehra Tankuş, Şanlıurfa Emergency Health Services ATT and First Aid Trainer, stated that AED devices are extremely easy to use and stated that the device guides the user with voice and visual commands, analyzes the heart rhythm and provides automatic shock application when necessary, and manages the heart massage process step by step.
