Necmettin Yılmaz, who was born on December 14, 1993, as the second child of Gülay and Hamit Yılmaz in the Demirkapı village of Torul district of Gümüşhane, started his education life at Demirkapı Primary School.
After his education at Gümüşhane Bağlarbaşı Regional Boarding Secondary School and Gümüşhane Ali Fuat Kadirbeyoğlu Anatolian High School, Yılmaz left his family for the first time and went to Artvin for university education.
Yılmaz, who graduated from Artvin Çoruh University, Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching in 2015, was known for his calm personality.
Yılmaz, who started his career as a paid classroom teacher at Altınpınar Primary School in Torul district of Gümüşhane in the 2015-2016 academic year, was appointed to Çiftçibaşı Primary School in Siverek district of Şanlıurfa on October 16, 2016.
Yılmaz, who has been a teacher for only 8 months, was returning to his hometown Torul from Şanlıurfa to spend the summer vacation on June 16, 2017, when he was kidnapped by PKK terrorists in the Pülümür district section of the Tunceli-Erzincan highway, after his new car, which he bought with the financial support of his father, was burned.
The body of 23-year-old teacher Necmettin was found in Pülümür Stream in Tunceli on July 12, 2017, on the 27th day of the searches.
After the ceremony in Torul district center on July 16, 2017, Necmettin Yılmaz's funeral was buried in the family cemetery in Demirkapı village, where he was born and raised.
Tunceli Governorship announced that the terrorist group that murdered Necmettin Yılmaz was neutralized with an armed unmanned aerial vehicle during reconnaissance and surveillance activities carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in the rural area of Nazımiye district on July 19, 2017.
The Ministry of National Education changed the name of Siverek Çiftçibaşı Primary School, where Yılmaz worked, to "Martyr Teacher Necmettin Yılmaz Primary School".

The name of the 6-kilometer route on the Pülümür highway, starting from the Mameki Bridge in Tunceli city center, was changed to "Martyr Teacher Necmettin Yılmaz Boulevard".
Yılmaz's name was given to libraries, science classes, reading rooms and workshops in various schools in Şanlıurfa, Malatya, Hatay, Kırklareli, Adana, Ağrı, Burdur, Eskişehir and Batman.
The name of the martyr is also kept alive in the "Martyr Teacher Necmettin Yılmaz Primary School" in İzmir's Çeşme district.

The first business development center of the Eastern Black Sea Region, established in Harmancık village of Torul, within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, was named "Martyr Teacher Necmettin Yılmaz Traditional and Organic Products Business Development Center".
The building, whose construction was completed in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, provides services under the name of "Martyr Teacher Necmettin Yılmaz Gündüz Child Care Center".
