The grave of Petty Officer Ömer Halisdemir, who shot and killed coup general Semih Terzi at the Special Forces Command in ANKARA on July 15, 2016 and changed the course of the coup attempt, and was martyred by other coup soldiers, in Niğde's Bor district, is flooded with visitors on the 10th anniversary of his martyrdom.
On the 10th anniversary of the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016, the grave of martyr Petty Officer Ömer Halisdemir in the Çukurkuyu town is experiencing a density of visitors this year, as every year. Visitors from all over Türkiye and abroad read the Quran and prayed at the grave of Halisdemir, who killed coup plotter general Semih Terzi at the Special Forces Command and changed the course of the coup attempt. Visitors shed tears at Halisdemir's grave and took souvenir photos.
Ahmet Özmert, who visited Halisdemir's grave with his friends, said, "We came to visit him to honor such a son of our country. We are glad we had the chance, we are glad we saw him. We are always indebted to such a son of our country."
Gönül Çakır, a physical education teacher working at the nursing home, said, "We brought our elderly people and martyrs to visit. We are very proud. May God rest their souls and rest in peace. Thanks to them, we are comfortable and at peace now."
Nursing home staff member Mücahit Sağıç said, "We are proud. We commemorate Ömer Halisdemir every day since July 15. Events we did not want happened, but the country needs brave and honorable martyrs like Ömer Halisdemir. May God be pleased with him."
