In the program organized by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Services on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, martyrs were commemorated with prayers, and the spirit of national unity and democracy was kept alive with performances and various activities prepared by children under state protection.
The program, organized by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services to commemorate the martyrs, express the loyalty to the veterans and strengthen the national consciousness and democracy awareness in children, was held at the Zeytinburnu Children's Homes Site Directorate.
The program started with the opening of the exhibition themed on July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Following a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the program included a recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers for the martyrs.
In the program, the fathers of the martyrs talked about what their children did for the resistance and how they became martyrs after receiving the news of the coup attempt on the night of July 15.
In the program where a video about July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day was shown, children gave a poetry recital and a folk dance show.
In the program, while the letter prepared in memory of the martyrs was read, a theater show with the theme of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day prepared by children under state protection was also staged.
In the program where Sultangazi Nursing Home Choir gave a concert, children under state protection at Zeytinburnu Children's Homes Site gave a solo concert.
"That day, the nation demonstrated its will and failed the treacherous coup attempt."
In his speech at the program, Istanbul Deputy Governor Okan Leblebicier commemorated the martyrs and said, "All of us, those of sound mind, those of old age, who were present here that day, witnessed the treacherous coup attempt that took place on July 15, 2016. It was a very dark night, but as expressed in our slogan this year, the title 'The Will is Ours, the Victory is Ours' is a slogan that really describes that day very well." he said.
Leblebicier said, "That day, the nation demonstrated its will, failed the treacherous coup attempt, and entrusted a clean Türkiye to us again the next morning. On this occasion, I wish God's mercy to all our martyrs and other martyrs who were martyred in the treacherous coup attempt." he said.
Istanbul Family and Social Services Provincial Director Ömer Turan stated that the video show explained the meaning and importance of today very well and revealed what happened that night, and said, "I commemorate all our martyrs with mercy. I wish a speedy recovery from God to all our veterans. May God bless their lives." he said.
The program was attended by Zeytinburnu District Governor Dr. Adem Uslu, deputy provincial directors, relatives of martyrs, veterans, children under state protection and guests attended.
