The Somali army announced that it targeted a base belonging to the terrorist organization Al-Shabaab in an air operation in the Hiran region and neutralized 42 members of the organization.
In the written statement made by the Ministry of Defense, it was reported that the army carried out an operation against a base used by Al-Shabaab in the Hiran region.
According to the statement, 42 terrorists who were members of the organization were neutralized and 12 were injured in the air operation.
It was reported that military vehicles, weapons and equipment used for defense purposes belonging to the organization were also destroyed during the operation.
It was stated in the statement that the operation was aimed at weakening the activities of the organization in the region, and that the Somali army and local defense forces did not cause any casualties during the operation and that the attack successfully achieved its targets.
Al-Shabaab, which emerged in Somalia in 2006, has been carrying out attacks against the Somali government and international peacekeepers for many years.
With the support of Somali security forces and international partners, large-scale operations have been carried out against the organization in the central and southern regions of the country since 2022.
