A "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" commemoration program was held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt of July 15.
The program, hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm and coordinated by the Stockholm Communications Consultancy, started with a moment of silence to the martyrs and the singing of the National Anthem.
After the recitation of the Holy Quran, Swedish Religious Foundation Social Religious Affairs Advisor Kerim Biri prayed for the martyrs.
Türkiye's Ambassador to Stockholm Koray Karakoç, Embassy staff, representatives of non-governmental organizations, members of the press and many citizens attended the commemoration ceremony.
A video prepared by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day was shown with the introduction and evaluations of Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran.
Speaking afterwards, Ambassador Karakoç said that on the night of July 15, 2016, a dark structure targeting the national will infiltrated the most sensitive institutions of the state and attempted to drag the country into chaos and destroy the constitutional order, and made the following statements:
"The Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) is a multi-layered, international structure that tries to penetrate different segments of society by presenting itself sometimes under the guise of a non-governmental organization, sometimes an educational institution, and sometimes a religious community. This dark structure, which exploits universal values, concepts such as freedom, tolerance, education and dialogue, for the sake of its own secret agenda, is a serious security threat not only for Turkey but for all the countries and societies in which it operates."
Stating that FETO structures in friendly and allied countries have been largely defeated by the determined struggle of the state, Karakoç said, "The state of the Republic of Turkey continues its fight against this organization in accordance with international law and develops cooperation with all friendly countries. The disappearance of the FETO leader does not mean that this struggle is over for us." he said.
At the ceremony, the photography exhibition themed "On the 10th Anniversary of July 15: Our Will, Our Victory", which was presented to the guests, attracted attention.
The commemoration program ended with the halva served to the guests in memory of the July 15 martyrs.
