Subaru of America is recalling more than 541,000 Crosstrek, Forester and Ascent SUVs because the certification label on the vehicles incorrectly indicates the gross axle weight rating (GAWR). NHTSA warned that incorrect labeling could lead to vehicle overload and increase the risk of a traffic incident.
According to the recall paperwork, Subaru stated that there were no traffic incidents or injuries resulting from this issue. No mechanical repair is required; The company will send a corrective sticker to affected owners, or dealers will install it free of charge. The recall covers the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid, 2025-2026 Forester and Forester Hybrid, and 2019-2026 Ascent models. Owner notifications will begin at the end of August.
