Historical Namazgah Oil Wrestling started in Kandıra district of Kocaeli.
32 chief wrestlers are participating in the organization organized by Kandıra Municipality in Namazgah Er Square on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The organization, in which Erhan Başaran, a businessman from Kandıra, was the wrestling leader, started with a cortege march and a janissary band show.
After weighing and registration, the wrestlers went to the field for the elimination competitions and fought to beat their opponents by performing peşrev.
Geographically marked local delicacies were offered to the visitors at the stands set up around the event area.
Wrestling will end with the final competitions and award ceremony to be held today, following the qualifying matches that will continue throughout the day.
