Within the scope of urban transformation activities carried out around Osmancık Castle in Çorum's Osmancık district, the demolition of 98 buildings with risky building status has started. When the work is completed, the area will be transformed into a large park and social living area.
The surrounding area of Osmancık Castle, which is approximately 166.24 hectares within the borders of Yazı District of Çorum's Osmancık district, was declared a "Risky Area" within the scope of the Law No. 6306 on the Transformation of Areas Under Disaster Risk due to the "risk of falling stones" and "risk of disaster". Within the scope of the tender held by Çorum Urban Transformation Directorate, the demolition of 98 buildings in the said area is carried out in exchange for scrap materials with economic value obtained from the debris. The demolition activities are aimed to be completed within 90 days.
AK Party Çorum Deputy Oğuzhan Kaya, who examined the demolition activities on site, stated that 77 parcels were urgently expropriated within the scope of Article 27 of the Expropriation Law and that approximately 358 million liras were paid to the rightful owners. Kaya said, "Approximately 358 million liras were paid to the rights holders in this process. Approximately 19 thousand square meters of risky area will be reintroduced to our Osmancık district. As of today, demolition activities are starting. When the work is completed, the area will be completely cleared of construction debris and will be available for the use of our citizens. In the new period, this place will be evaluated as a park and turned into an exemplary living space worthy of our district." - ÇORUM
