The captain of the Sao Tome and Principe flagged dry cargo ship, which ran aground off the coast of Tekirdağ in the MARMARA Sea, has not yet requested rescue activities.
Off the coast of Tekirdağ in the Marmara Sea, the Sao Tome and Principe flagged dry cargo ship Regalo, which is 169 meters long, 27.2 meters wide and has a carrying capacity of 28 thousand 461 DWT, ran aground at around 12:00 yesterday while approaching the port. Following the notice, teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety and the Coast Guard Command were dispatched to the region. It was stated that the ship loaded with 27 thousand 500 tons of paddy, which ran aground, was trying to approach the port in Tekirdağ to leave 10 thousand tons of the product. It has been learned that the captain of the ship, which has 20 crew members who are stated to be in good health, has not requested emergency assistance yet.
Coast Guard Command teams took security measures around the ship. The teams of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety also carried out divers inspections around the ship and under water as part of their activities for the rescue operation.
