In the message published by the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution (TİHEK) on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, "Our nation protected its homeland, flag and independence with the unshakable unity, courage and determination it displayed on that dark night, and showed the whole world that national sovereignty cannot be usurped by any power." expressions were used.
In TİHEK's message, it was stated that protecting human dignity, securing fundamental rights and freedoms, and ensuring the rule of law are only possible with the existence of a constitutional order that derives its legitimacy from the will of the nation.
In the message, it was emphasized that any illegal attempt to eliminate the constitutional order targets not only the legitimate administration, but also the state of law based on human dignity, fundamental rights and freedoms, and guarantees for the protection of human rights.
The message stated that the treacherous coup attempt carried out by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016 took its place in history as a serious attack targeting the state of law, constitutional order and national will, and the following was stated:
"With the unshakable unity, courage and determination it displayed in that dark night, our nation defended its homeland, flag and independence, and showed the whole world that national sovereignty cannot be usurped by any power. After 10 years, July 15 is not only a coup attempt today, but also symbolizes our nation's will to protect democracy, independence and common future.
The unity, solidarity and determination demonstrated have been written in golden letters in our history as the clearest and strongest indication that the will of the nation is above all forms of tutelage, and have left indelible traces in our national memory. "On this occasion, we commemorate with mercy, gratitude and respect our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country, our flag and our independence on the night of July 15, 2016, and we express our gratitude to our heroic veterans."
