(ANKARA) - According to the Milk and Dairy Products Production data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), 1 million 22 thousand 587 tons of cow milk was collected by commercial dairy enterprises in May.
TÜİK announced the "Milk and Dairy Products Production" statistics for May 2026. Accordingly, the amount of cow milk collected by commercial dairy enterprises increased by 2.3 percent in May and reached 1 million 22 thousand 587 tons.
In May, compared to the same month of the previous year, cow cheese production increased by 2.4 percent, buttermilk and kefir production increased by 2 percent, and drinking milk production increased by 19.7 percent.
According to TÜİK, yoghurt production decreased by 1.2 percent and butter and ghee production decreased by 12 percent compared to May of the previous year.
In the January-May period, cow cheese production increased by 2.8 percent, buttermilk and kefir production increased by 8.9 percent, yoghurt production increased by 8.4 percent and drinking milk production increased by 9.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, butter and ghee production decreased by 5 percent.
Drinking milk production, which was 154 thousand 447 tons in the previous month, increased by 1.9 percent in May and reached 157 thousand 453 tons.
