One of the defendants tried in connection with a drug operation carried out by gendarmerie teams in the Tosya district of Kastamonu was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison, while two defendants were acquitted.
The incident occurred in September 2025 at the industrial site in the Tosya district. According to information obtained, teams from the Tosya District Gendarmerie Command evaluated a tip-off and stopped a suspicious vehicle. During a search of the stopped vehicle, 90 grams of bonzai were seized behind the driver's door and seat. A search of M.A., O.D., and H.C.Ş., who were in the vehicle, revealed 2.30 grams of bonzai on their persons. Searches of their homes uncovered 1 precision scale, 5 grams of bonzai inside a deep fryer, 2.90 grams of bonzai in a bag, a quantity of bonzai in an acetone box, and 5 synthetic drug pills. H.C.Ş. and O.D. were arrested, while M.A. was released under judicial control.
The trial against M.A., H.C.Ş., and O.D. for the crime of "trading or supplying narcotic or stimulant drugs," which was opened at the Kastamonu High Criminal Court, continued. The detained defendant H.C.Ş. and the defendants O.D. and M.A., who were being tried without detention, were present at the hearing.
In the previous hearing, the public prosecutor, who presented his opinion, requested that H.C.Ş. be punished for the crime of "trading or supplying narcotic or stimulant drugs," and that O.D. and M.A. be acquitted.
H.C.Ş., defending himself against the opinion, stated that he did not accept the accusations, saying, "I told you everything I know. Phone conversations and money transfers, everything is clear. It is evident that I bought drugs from them. Also, I gave you a few names here. It is quite normal that nothing came of these, because the names I gave were mentioned in court. Since the other defendants heard the names I gave, it is very normal that nothing came of them. I admit to consuming drugs, but I do not admit to drug trafficking."
O.D., who then made his defense, said, "It is clear that H.C.Ş. lied by making contradictory statements, naming someone else in later hearings for the drugs he claimed to have bought from me in the initial hearings. He is giving false testimony to save himself. The substances found in his home and car indicate drug dealing. Therefore, I request a decision in line with the opinion and my acquittal."
M.A., on the other hand, requested his acquittal in line with the opinion.
The court panel, which then announced its decision, sentenced H.C.Ş. to 12 years and 6 months in prison and a judicial fine of 125,000 Turkish Liras for the crime of "trading or supplying narcotic or stimulant drugs." O.D. and M.A. were acquitted. - KASTAMONU
