DÜZCE (IHA) – Düzce Governor Mehmet Makas, in his message shared on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, said, "July 15 is the day of those who loudly say 'The Will is Ours, Victory is Ours' against FETO with a sense of unity and solidarity and in the name of protecting the national will."
In his message, Governor Makas said, "Today is the 10th anniversary of the July 15 treacherous coup attempt organized by mankurt minds who wanted to bury our country in darkness. In every page of our glorious Turkish history full of victories and achievements, there are treacherous attacks and attempts to overshadow success. I once again pray to God's mercy on all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the survival of our country and the independence of our nation. July 15, It is the day of those who loudly say 'Our Will, Our Victory' against FETO with the feeling of unity and solidarity and in the name of protecting the national will. July 15 is the day of the heroes who brought the dark night to the bright morning with their sacrifices. July 15 is the night when the weapons of the nation are turned against the nation again, the day when we say 'stop' to treason with bare hands.
That night, the treacherous coup attempt was foiled with the honorable stance and unprecedented courage of our beloved nation and heroic security forces. Let's not forget that the night of July 15 was not only a coup attempt, but also an attempt to betray the will of the nation, democracy and the Republic. Against this treacherous FETO attempt, our entire nation, from 7 to 70, took to the streets as one and defended their homeland and future at the expense of their lives. That night, the Turkish nation showed the whole world its commitment to democracy at the expense of its life. Our nation, which demonstrates the value of independence and national unity with a heroic attitude, will always continue to keep this spirit alive against all kinds of threats, especially FETO and similar terrorist organizations. We will continue to stand vigilant and united in order to ensure that the traitors who appear in the form of God do not find an opportunity again, and to prevent our future generations from experiencing July 15 and similar events. Our heroes and veterans who rose to the level of martyrdom will never be forgotten and will always live in our hearts. "On this occasion, I commemorate our Martyrs who fell on the homeland in Çanakkale, the War of Independence, Cyprus, internal security operations, across the border and while fighting for our glorious red flag to fly on July 15, and I express my gratitude to our Heroic Veterans," he said.
