Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı met with the families of martyrs and veterans on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
In his speech at the program at the Martyr Ömer Halisdemir Conference Hall, Tavlı wished mercy to the martyrs of democracy on the 10th anniversary of FETO's July 15 coup attempt.
Referring to the importance of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, Tavlı said, "Çanakkale, which gave the beloved Turkish nation the determination and will to fight against the invading states in unity and solidarity a century ago, the spirit of May 19 and Kuvayımilliye, and the independence medal-winning Samsun Bargemen's Guild, which carried weapons and ammunition to the front by fighting against the vicious waves of the Black Sea and the navies of the occupying powers from east to west. "The spirit of the National Struggle, which made its brave and heroic sons write a legend, emerged once again as the spirit of national unity on the night of July 15, 2016." he said.
Stating that the nation was united with the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tavlı said:
"Our beloved nation, united with young and old, women and men, flocked to the squares of our cities and defended the national will and democracy. By turning the treacherous uprising into a victory of democracy, we once again declared to the whole world that the spirit of unity, solidarity and brotherhood will exist in these lands forever, and the beloved Turkish nation once again wrote a glorious epic that will be remembered with pride forever. Our beloved nation showed what a crisis our country had overcome on July 15." "We will never forget and will never let anyone forget our debt of loyalty to our beloved martyrs and heroic veterans who gave their lives to keep the country alive and who did not surrender their homeland to the invaders, which they cherished, and the struggle against the coup plotters and the imperialist forces behind them."
Governor Tavlı then chatted with the families of martyrs and relatives of veterans.
Metropolitan Mayor Halit Doğan, institution managers, political party representatives and non-governmental organization representatives also attended the program.
