Citizens marched with Turkish flags in the 'Democracy March' held in VAN within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day events. The crowd chanted slogans along the road: "Martyrs do not die, the homeland is indivisible."
The march, coordinated by the Governorship of Van, started at the Polis Junction on Iskele Street. Governor of Van and Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Ozan Balcı, Gendarmerie Public Order Corps Commander Major General Ünsal Bulut, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Mücahit Avkran, Provincial Police Chief Murat Mutlu, AK Party Van Provincial Chairman Abdulahat Arvas, MHP Van Provincial Chairman Salih Güngöralp, families of the martyrs, institution chiefs, representatives of non-governmental organizations and many citizens attended the program.
Participants of the march walked from the Polis Junction to Beşyol Square with Turkish flags in their hands. While police teams took extensive security measures on the march route, police vehicles were in front of the cortege. The crowd chanted slogans along the road: "Martyrs do not die, the homeland is indivisible." The program held in Beşyol Square after the march started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. After praying for the martyrs, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech was followed on the giant screen. The program also included a slide show with the names of the July 15 martyrs and a video about July 15.
