It was reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the two major earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela on June 24 increased to 4 thousand 734.
Venezuelan National Assembly President (AN) Jorge Rodriguez made a statement about the earthquakes on the social media platform of the US-based company X.
Noting that the number of people who lost their lives in the disaster increased by 173 to 4 thousand 734, Rodriguez stated that the number of people injured was 16 thousand 740.
According to the news in the national media, the National Assembly of Venezuela announced in a statement on Tuesday that a joint action process has been initiated with a section of the opposition in order to "strengthen stability, democracy and national recovery".
The Parliament also thanked Washington for its solidarity following the June 24 earthquakes and expressed gratitude to the administration of US President Donald Trump for "its support in the recovery of the country, consolidation of stability and strengthening of Venezuela's democratic institutions."
Two major earthquakes occurred in Venezuela
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 occurred in Venezuela on June 24, 39 seconds apart.
In its statement on June 26, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) calculated the cost of physical damage directly caused by earthquakes as 6.7 billion dollars.
In the country where search and rescue activities continue, there are concerns that the number of dead and injured people will increase.
