Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez shared the latest situation on his virtual media account after the two severe earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that occurred on June 24. Rodriguez announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the disaster reached 4 thousand 734 and the number of people injured reached 16 thousand 740.
According to the data shared by Rodriguez, 6 thousand 462 people have been rescued alive from the rubble so far within the scope of search and rescue activities. It was reported that 856 buildings were damaged and 190 buildings were completely destroyed in the regions hit by severe earthquakes. Following the main earthquakes, 1275 aftershocks have been reported in the region so far. It was stated that 17 thousand 907 people became homeless due to the earthquakes, while 20 thousand 903 people continued to live in 107 temporary shelter centers established.
In the statement, which reported that 128 thousand 324 families were reached within the scope of intervention and aid activities, it was stated that 30 thousand 989 personnel and 31 thousand 50 volunteers were on the field in the disaster area. It was also announced that 2 thousand 471 international search and rescue experts supported the activities. It was shared that within the scope of humanitarian aid, 10 thousand 63 tons of food and more than 21.7 million liters of water have been distributed so far.
