(ANKARA) - Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi stated that a regulation has been made regarding the use of vehicles with foreign license plates by Turkish citizens living abroad and said, "Provided that the permit holder is present in Türkiye, spouses, descendants and descendants residing abroad will be able to use the vehicle even if the permit holder is not in the vehicle. If the permit holder is present in the vehicle, other persons residing abroad will also be able to use the vehicle without the requirement of kinship."
Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi announced on his social media account that a regulation has been made regarding the use of vehicles with foreign license plates by Turkish citizens living abroad. Farmer said:
"We have provided significant convenience to our citizens living abroad. We have forwarded the requests from our citizens living abroad to our Ministry and the penal action problems encountered in practice to our Ministry of Commerce. As a result of the negotiations between our two ministries, we have updated the principles regarding the use of vehicles with foreign license plates in a way that will make the lives of our citizens easier. Accordingly, provided that the permit holder is in Türkiye, the spouse, descendants (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather) and descendants (children and grandchildren) residing abroad can use the vehicle even if the permit holder is not in the vehicle. "If the permit holder is present in the vehicle, other persons residing abroad can also use the vehicle, regardless of the condition of kinship. In addition, in emergency situations and during this situation, no penalty will be applied if the vehicle is used by persons residing in Türkiye, provided that the vehicle owner is present in the vehicle."
