The donated organs of 79-year-old Elif Özmen, who lost her fight for life in the hospital as a result of a brain hemorrhage in Denizli, gave hope to patients waiting for transplant in Izmir and Bursa.

79-year-old Elif Özmen, who had a brain hemorrhage in Denizli on July 10, was treated at Denizli State Hospital Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Despite all the interventions in the intensive care unit, Özmen's brain death occurred 5 days later. Elif Özmen's organs were donated as a result of discussions with her family by Denizli State Hospital Organ Transplantation Unit. Thereupon, 2 kidneys and his liver were taken by the teams from Izmir and Bursa and sent to be transplanted to patients waiting for organs in Izmir and Bursa.

Denizli Provincial Health Director Specialist. Dr. Berna Öztürk expressed her condolences to Elif Özmen's family and thanked them for donating organs and their sensitivity on this issue. Öztürk drew attention to the vital importance of organ donation and said, "According to the data of our Ministry of Health, more than 30 thousand patients are waiting for an organ in Türkiye and every organ donation gives a new life to these patients. Unfortunately, 3 to 4 of our citizens lose their lives every day because organs cannot be found. We see that the most important deficiency in organ donation is donation from cadavers. As our Ministry also emphasizes, organ donation is the most valuable gift that can be made from life to life. With donations made from cadavers to our patients who are waiting to hold on to life, "We can be a cure. Therefore, every donation literally means a new life. In this regard, I would like to call out once again to all our citizens. We can donate our organs while we are alive, thinking that we can save someone's life after death.
