The new additional customs tax regulation in the automotive industry raises questions among the public: 'Will vehicle prices increase?' raised the question. Industry representative Göksel Erkoyuncu said that the comments that the regulation will bring a mass price increase for all vehicles do not reflect the truth. He stated that the main goal of the tax regulation is to support domestic production, prevent unfair competition and reduce the current account deficit. He emphasized that the determining factor in prices is the production location of the vehicle.
The regulation covers not only vehicles but also automotive parts. Vehicles and parts produced in Türkiye or the European Union will be evaluated differently. Erkoyuncu stated that the expectation of a sudden increase in all vehicle prices is not correct and said that the stock status and price policies of the distributors will be effective. He stated that while stagnation continues in the second-hand market, new vehicle campaigns are driving demand. He added that July data will clarify the direction of the market.
