In the case where 62 defendants, 10 of whom were detained, were tried for allegedly transferring baby emergency patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals with which they had previously agreed, causing their deaths and making unfair profits, it was decided that the detained defendants should continue in this situation.
At the hearing held by the Bakırköy 22nd High Criminal Court in the conference hall of the courthouse, the statements of the defendant's lawyers were completed.
Hande Yücedağ, the lawyer of detained defendant Hakan Doğukan Taşçı, said, "There is a contradiction in the report regarding baby Serdarova. It is not legally acceptable to still give detention orders in the file. We demand the acquittal of my client." he said.
Simay Maraşlı, the lawyer of detained defendant Rıza Keykubat, also argued that it was not acceptable to hold his client responsible for the actions and requested the acquittal of the defendant.
The court adjourned the hearing for 2 hours to announce its interim decision.
The court, which announced its interim decision after the break, decided that the detained defendants should continue in this situation.
The hearing was postponed to October 12 to correct the deficiencies.
