Obliged parties will participate in production through greenhouse vegetable cultivation - Last Minute

It is planned that probation officers who have learned about greenhouse vegetable cultivation in Kırşehir will participate in production.

"The Hope Project That Comes with Land" was implemented in cooperation with the Probation Directorate, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University (KAEÜ) Faculty of Agriculture and Provincial Directorate of National Education, in order to reintegrate the criminals into society and prevent them from committing crimes again.

Within the scope of the project, the culprits were given information about the incentives and supports in this field, as well as technical and theoretical training at the Kırşehir Courthouse Probation Directorate.

In the R&D greenhouse of KAEÜ, various practical trainings were given to the obliged parties and the products that can be grown with greenhouse greenhouse techniques and methods were explained.

Kırşehir Chief Public Prosecutor Oğuz Şükrü Ener told the AA correspondent that they aim to see former convicts as new producers within the scope of the "Hope Project that Comes with the Land".

Explaining that the project aims to meet the need for qualified labor for agricultural production, Ener said that after the course, those who want to build new lives for themselves will be taught a profession.

Ener noted that in this context, new business doors will be opened for taxpayers.

Emphasizing that importance is given to vocational training activities for those who want to be useful to their nation and family, Ener stated that they added greenhouse greenhouse cultivation techniques and methods to the courses previously given by the Probation Directorate, under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, taking into account the needs of the city and the country.

Ener congratulated the stakeholder institutions and the Probation Directorate officers who worked hard on the project.

Kırşehir Probation Director Volkan Eren said that they prepared the project in order for the offenders to re-adapt to society and acquire a profession.

Stating that they want the trainees to be the breeders that the sector needs, Eren stated that they aim to contribute to the employment and economic development of the obliged participants.

"Our state has various supports"

Explaining that they opened a 30-hour greenhouse vegetable growing course for 15 probationers within the scope of the project, Eren said:

"Our obliged persons who are successful at the end of the course and want to carry out this business can open a greenhouse business in their own name. Undoubtedly, while the obliged persons are serving their sentences, unemployment is one of the main problems they face. With our projects, we aim for them to hold on to life again, to provide for their families and to have a profession. We sincerely hope that they can carry out this business in greenhouses or on their own land with seedling production facilities. Our state has various supports for this."

KAEÜ Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar stated that the students are given training in the R&D greenhouse of the university to help them gain a profession and improve themselves.

Explaining that practical training was given on greenhouse models with and without soil, Çınar said, "Currently, we are carrying out breeding activities especially for tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and eggplants. We are carrying out activities to develop productive, high quality, disease and damage resistant varieties for the region and other parts of Türkiye. Within the scope of our cooperation, we provide practical training to the obliged parties on greenhouse vegetable cultivation. We aim to provide the obliged parties with the necessary information on greenhouse vegetable cultivation by our technical colleagues working here." he said.

"It is possible to produce for 12 months with greenhouse cultivation"

Assoc. Prof. KAEÜ Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Vegetable Growing and Breeding. Dr. Hakan Başak said, "The family business model is a great advantage both for the country's economy and for individuals to contribute to production and family income. We told the trainees that this business provides them with great advantages in terms of both profession and starting their own business. The biggest disadvantage of agriculture in our country is that there is no need for a workforce for 12 months of the year, but greenhouse cultivation completely eliminates this perception. It is possible to produce for 12 months with greenhouse cultivation. This provides people with the opportunity to earn a living and earn income." he said.
