According to the information provided by the UAE Ministry of Defense, an Indian crew member lost his life and eight people were injured in the attack on ships belonging to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the US ally in the region. The UAE announced that the hit tankers were sailing on a southern route in Oman's territorial waters.

Iranian media reported that there were explosions repeatedly along the southern coast of the country throughout the night.

Announcing that new and harsh attacks will be launched against Iran, US President Donald Trump said that a naval blockade will be imposed again against ships going to or anchoring in Iranian ports. According to the statement of military officials, the blockade will come into force on Tuesday at 23:00 Turkish time. Following this situation, oil prices started to rise again.

In a radio program he attended, Trump also stated that they could hit the underground facility located in the center of Iran, also known as "Kazma Mountain". Speculations about this structure, located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Natanz nuclear facility, claim that Iran wants to build a secret facility here to enrich uranium that can be used in the production of nuclear weapons.

Trump said Mount Kazma was a "likely target" for a "major attack" and that it would happen "pretty soon."

In the statement made by the US military on Tuesday morning, it was announced that the wave of attacks carried out for the third night in a row was over.

Before the statement, Iranian media reported that multiple explosions occurred on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf, around the port city of Bushehr, on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and in the city of Bandar Abbas.

Making a statement about the attack on UAE tankers, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that the US army tried to direct several ships to an "illegal route" and that the two tankers turned off their navigation systems and did not react to the repeated warnings of the Strait of Hormuz security control center. In the statement, it was stated that the ships were then opened fire and were rendered unable to maneuver.

Jordanian state television, citing the Jordanian army, announced that four missiles launched from Iran were intercepted. It was stated that alarm sirens were also sounded in Bahrain, another US ally in the Gulf. The Ministry of Internal Affairs called on citizens to remain calm and take shelter through X. However, it was not stated specifically why this warning was made.

The missiles launched by Iran the night before hit various points in Bahrain and Kuwait, which have recently been the target of Iran's retaliatory attacks.

Trump demands "compensation" for US escort

The US military maintains that the latest bombardment against Iran was carried out to prevent attacks on innocent civilians and merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Bosphorus, which is vital for global oil, natural gas and fertilizer trade, connects the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. Trump announced that his country will now demand revenue of 20 percent of the cargo value of the tankers "in order to be fair" for ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and stated that this will cover the costs incurred for safe passage.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, in his message shared on his X account, mocked the US President and stated that Trump was "absolutely right". Arakchi continued his message with the following statements:

"This service, which ensures the safe passage of merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz, should be compensated. Iran has always been the guardian of this strait and will remain so forever." Arakchi also stated that the 20 percent requested by Trump was "of course too much" and said, "We will be fair."

Recent US attacks and Iran's counter-moves increase the concern that the war in the region will flare up again. According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper, based on US officials, the bombardment is carried out both to punish Tehran for the attacks on ships in the Bosphorus and to bring the country's leadership back to the negotiation table. The news also states that it is not thought that Trump is pursuing a comprehensive war.
