The snow-covered road to the high-altitude plateaus of Bahçesaray district in Van is being opened to traffic with construction machinery, allowing berivans (milkmaids) to milk more comfortably.
In Özbeyli Hamlet, located at an altitude of 3,300 meters in Güneyyamaç Neighborhood, Bahçesaray district of Van, the snow-covered road is being opened to traffic with construction machinery to enable berivans (milkmaids) who ascend to the plateaus in summer to milk more comfortably. The hamlet road, which was closed to traffic due to the persistent snow cover in high altitudes after the winter season, is being made ready for use again thanks to the intense efforts of the teams. With the opening of the road, which is of great importance especially for berivans who take their small livestock to the plateaus, daily milk production and animal husbandry activities will be carried out more safely and easily. Amidst snow masses reaching several meters in height in places, construction machinery is progressing despite difficult terrain conditions, opening the road to traffic. Thanks to the dedicated work of the snow removal teams, producers in the region will be able to reach the plateaus, and animal husbandry activities will continue without interruption. The local people thanked the teams involved, stating that similar efforts every year are of great importance for both animal husbandry and milk production, which provides their livelihood. In Bahçesaray, which stands out with its nature and high-altitude plateaus, snow removal efforts continuing even in mid-summer once again highlighted the region's challenging geographical conditions.
Güneyyamaç Neighborhood Headman Zeki İletmiş, Acting Branch Manager of Rural Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Reşat Yılmaz, Bahçesaray Site Chief Abdullah Karaca, along with Çatbayır Neighborhood Headman Eyüp Kayan, monitored the snow removal efforts in the region.
Headman Zeki İletmiş, stating that they were on the road to Özbeyli hamlet, part of Bahçesaray's Güneyyamaç Neighborhood, said, "We are currently opening the plateau road. Snow removal efforts are ongoing. So far, 4-5 kilometers of road have been cleared. I would like to thank Acting Branch Manager of Rural Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Reşat Yılmaz, Bahçesaray Site Chief Abdullah Karaca, and the operators for their intense efforts. When our road is open, berivans will be able to reach the plateau more comfortably." - VAN
