BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Per capita disposable income in China increased by 5.2 percent in nominal terms in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
According to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday, per capita disposable income reached 22,981 yuan (about 3,384 US dollars) during the said period. This means a 4.2 percent increase in real terms after deducting price factors.
The increase in the income of those living in rural areas exceeded the increase in the income of those living in urban areas. In the first half of the year, the per capita disposable income of city residents increased by 4.4 percent in nominal terms and 3.4 percent in real terms compared to the same period last year, reaching 30,126 yuan. The per capita disposable income of rural residents also increased by 6.4 percent in nominal terms and 5.5 percent in real terms, reaching 12,699 yuan.
During the period in question, nominal per capita salary income increased by 5.3 percent, net operating income by 6.5 percent, net property income by 1.1 percent and net transfer income by 5.8 percent.
The data also revealed that the Chinese economy grew by 4.7 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
