"Heroism is in Our Blood" blood donation event was organized by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day in Konya.

At the event held in Kültür Park, works prepared by the families of martyrs and veterans were exhibited at the stands in the area.

In his speech here, Family and Social Services Provincial Director Arif Topal stated that the Turkish nation did not drop its flag and did not surrender the country to the coup plotters on the night of July 15.

Stating that messages of unity and solidarity were given that night, Topal said, "July 15 is an epic written in golden letters in history, where our nation protected its independence and democracy at the cost of its life. That night, this beloved nation did not drop its flag, did not surrender its homeland, and never gave up its unity and solidarity." he said.

Topal pointed out that patriotism can be shown not only on the front lines but in all areas of life, and stated that donating blood in the tents set up by the Red Crescent in the field would give hope to a life.

Topal said, "Today, we are not just carrying out an event here by saying 'Heroism is in Our Blood'. With every blood donation we donate, we give hope to a life, we show our loyalty with the handcrafted works of our martyrs' relatives and veterans, and we remember our responsibility to future generations with environmentally friendly activities. Because heroism means not only sacrificing one's life when necessary, but also saving a life with a drop of blood when necessary, becoming hope by producing, and serving one's nation." he said.

After the speeches, protocol members and citizens visited the Red Crescent blood donation stands established in the area.

In addition to Family and Social Services Provincial Director Topal, Presidential Directorate of Communications Konya Regional Director Tuncay Karabulut, Turkish Red Crescent Blood Donation Center Director Prof. Dr. Mahmut Baykan, representatives of non-governmental organizations and citizens attended.

The program ended with prayers for the martyrs and veterans who gave their lives for the country.
