Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the US's renewed attacks on Iran are a violation of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries and said, "This is sad, because civilian infrastructure is damaged in both Iran and Arab countries. This closes the door opened by the memorandum of understanding." he said.

Lavrov met with Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Living Abroad, Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul, who visited Russia, in the capital Moscow. The two ministers held a joint press conference after the meeting.

Evaluating Europe's approach to resolving the Ukraine crisis, Lavrov said, "Europeans are playing games by trying to undermine the existing agreements between Russia and the USA. As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated, we know how to achieve the set goals if the agreements are not implemented." he said.

Lavrov pointed out that US President Donald Trump has not yet made an assessment of the situation and said, "Europe and the Ukrainian administration have clearly declared that they consider the agreements reached in Alaska invalid. However, I cannot predict how the US will approach these agreements. There are internal political problems in the US and I understand this. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict whether the agreements reached with the US will be implemented." he said.

"Ukraine's attacks on Russian ships are acts of terrorism"

Stating that they took the necessary steps to prevent Ukraine's attacks on Russian ships carrying wheat to Africa in the Sea of ​​Azov, Lavrov continued as follows:

"What the Ukrainian administration is doing is not even piracy. Pirates are committing robbery. The purpose here is only to harm and threaten. This is an act of terrorism. All of this takes place not only in the Sea of ​​Azov, but also in the Black Sea and on the African continent. Ukrainians are taking actions to harm Russia in Africa. Ukrainians are working with African extremist groups trying to overthrow legitimate governments in Africa."

Lavrov emphasized that they will continue to fulfill their obligations regarding food supply to African countries.

Recalling the news about attacks against Turkish ships and tankers by Ukrainian unmanned marine vehicles, Lavrov noted that they brought this issue up in their meetings with their Turkish counterparts.

Referring to the renewed attacks of the USA against Iran, Lavrov reminded that a memorandum of understanding was previously signed between the two countries.

Lavrov said, "We consider these attacks as a violation of the memorandum of understanding. This is sad because civilian infrastructure is damaged both in Iran and Arab countries. Most importantly, this situation does not contribute to the solution of the problem. On the contrary, it closes the door opened by the memorandum of understanding." he said.

Lavrov stated that they continue to support Niger, Mali and other African countries in the fight against terrorism.

Chad wants Africa represented in the UNSC

Chad Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Living Abroad, Fadoul, said that Russia plays an important role in fighting terrorism and stabilizing the situation in Africa.

Underlining that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should be reformed and Africa should be represented in the UNSC, Fadoul said, "Africa has been suffering due to the decisions taken by others since 1945. However, these decisions directly affect us." he said.

Fadoul stated that Russia took a similar approach on this issue and they welcomed it.
