MOSCOW, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mariya Zakharova called on Japan to adhere to its peaceful constitution and fully recognize the consequences of World War II.

In her response to a Xinhua reporter's question at the press conference on Wednesday, Zakharova said that they are closely following Japan's accelerated "re-armament" process and the continuous expansion of its military activities.

The spokesman also stated that they firmly rejected Japan's protest regarding the Russian-Chinese joint military exercises, which were carried out in full compliance with international law.
