A rescue operation was launched with the participation of AFAD, gendarmerie and military helicopter to reach 2 engineers who were stranded in the mountainous area in the rural area of Balveren town in ŞIRNAK center. When a safe landing area for the helicopter could not be found, AFAD's mountaineer team moved to the region with a walk that would take approximately 3 hours.
The incident took place in the evening in the mountainous area in the Ballıkaya location of the Balveren town of Şırnak center. Two engineers, who went to mountainous terrain to take samples, called 112 Emergency Call Center and reported that they were stranded. Upon notice, AFAD and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region. The teams reached the region in a short time and determined the place where they were stranded from the video sent to them by the engineers. However, since land transportation was difficult due to the steep rocks and rugged terrain of the region, air support was requested under the coordination of AFAD Presidency. A military helicopter within the Air Force Command was also dispatched to the region to support rescue activities. The helicopter team that inspected the area could not reach the stranded engineers because there was no suitable area for safe landing. While the engineers lit a fire where they were stranded, to warm themselves up and reveal their location, AFAD's mountaineer team started the walk, which is expected to take approximately 3 hours, to reach the area where the engineers are located.
