The Ukrainian parliament approved President Vladimir Zelenskiy's proposal to appoint Serhiy Koretskyi, leader of the energy company Naftogaz, as prime minister.
A vote was held in the Ukrainian parliament for the new prime minister. Serhiy Koretskyi, CEO of Ukrainian national oil and natural gas company Naftogaz, became the country's new prime minister by receiving the "yes" vote of 289 deputies in the 450-seat parliament. In his speech to the parliament, 48-year-old Koretskyi said his priorities are to prepare the country for winter, support businesses for economic stability, strengthen cooperation with partners and make progress on Ukraine's path to European Union membership.
Koretskyi, who held executive and senior management positions in various companies in the energy sector, had been serving as CEO of Naftogaz Group since May 2025. The Ukrainian parliament approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on July 14. President Zelenskiy recommended Koretskyi as prime minister. - KYIV
