The theft incident that took place in a mosque open for worship in Bursa's İnegöl district was reflected on security cameras second by second. The suspect broke the locks of the aid box with a paving stone he took from the street, stole approximately 100 thousand lira and disappeared.
The incident took place around 07:00 in the Yokuşlar Mosque in Fatih District of İnegöl district. The suspect, who entered the mosque, left his shoes in the shoe rack and started walking around inside in a relaxed manner. The person examined the mosque for a while and came to the aid box. The suspect, who could not open the two locks on the box, left the mosque and looked for paving stones on the street. The suspect, who took the stone he found and entered the mosque again, hit the locks of the aid box for about 15 minutes. The suspect, who managed to break the locks, filled the 100 thousand lira, consisting of approximately two months' worth of donations, into a bag he found in the mosque and fled the scene.
The imam and the association managers, who came to the mosque after the morning prayer, saw that the aid box was broken and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police teams arrived at the scene upon notice and examined the security cameras, while crime scene investigation teams also conducted evidence activities.
Police teams are continuing their activities to identify and capture the suspect.
While the teams started an operation to catch the suspect, Ahmet Yıldırım, Board Member of Yokuşlar Mosque Survival Association, reacted to the thief and said, "We are having a Quran course here. We had debts from last year's money of the Quran course. We cut a charity check to pay our debts. To pay the charity check, we have not opened the box belonging to our own mosque, belonging to the Quran course inside the mosque, for two months. This check we made is 74 thousand liras, 74 thousand liras." "We did not open the box to pay the lira, but in the theft that took place between 7-7.30 this morning, they were all gone.
