An information event was held at Kütahya City Hospital to raise awareness about healthy nutrition, drawing attention to sugar consumption.

In the event held by the City Hospital Dietitian Team and Training Nurses, the negative effects of excessive sugar consumption on health were explained to the citizens and the importance of conscious nutrition was emphasized.

In the information provided by dietitians, it was stated that one of the basic elements of a healthy and balanced diet is limiting sugar consumption. It was stated that especially when purchasing ready-made foods, the amount and type of sugar on the product labels should be examined.

In the statement, it was pointed out that consuming excessive amounts of sugar and sugary foods causes unnecessary energy intake and increases the risk of weight gain and obesity. In addition, it was reported that excessive consumption of sugary foods may reduce the consumption of other foods with high nutritional value.

Experts stated that excessive sugar consumption is directly related to many health problems such as metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension, kidney diseases and tooth decay, and called on citizens to acquire balanced nutrition habits.
